Feel free to follow him on Twitter @AsayPaul.Small positive aspects don’t make up for the lead character’s, and the show’s, total lack of boundaries. With a compelling lead actress, fun music and enticing plot, there’s a lot to like here. I don't think I laughed more than 1 time the whole episode. It's what South Park fails to deliver in their last 3 seasons and what I expected from Disenchantment, which failed badly in my opinion. Is this supposed to be funny? Patrick’s mother and father discuss getting intimate on a newly purchased pool table (and later we see shadows of the two having sex). And finally, the characters are so unlikeable that I literally hate all of them. He’s married, has two children and a neurotic dog, runs marathons on occasion and hopes to someday own his own tuxedo. ).The squire contest involves some fighting and jousting, too. Those moments when it sheds its thick over-the-top, shouty shell — it’s fun seeing what they uncover inside.Interviews with leading film and TV creators about their process and craft.Get The Latest IndieWire Alerts And Newsletters Delivered Directly To Your Inbox.Copyright © 2020 Penske Business Media, LLC. The style is great though and works well. This TV show is absolutely hilarious and I think everybody should give it a shot. That's going to be awesome for those aged 10-15 because though the topics are almost always TV-MA it's couched in the most juvenile, pre-teen terms, and that just doesn't work for me.At no point did this make me laugh or even smile. Few actually funny lines, sprinkled with way too many jokes. Sadly those moments are far and few between. After smashing several (much to Patrick’s horror), the siblings find a live baby dragon who claws the face of one of Patrick’s brothers and sends him bouncing down the mountainside. The thing that annoyed me the most was the script. This show was made by the same crew who worked on Robot Chicken, Titan Maximum, Hot Streets and Super Mansion and this show made me feel pretty positive when it comes to crazy and funny ranchy humor. Like “Miracle Workers: Dark Ages” from earlier this year, “Crossing Swords… The story had a great starting off point, however; eventually the over-the-top insanity derailed the main point of the story. All flying, jousting, and assorted forms of bodily contact happen with swords and accessories floating alongside. For as detailed as the land around the castle is, the medieval setting is an extremely flexible one. I just wish they marketed it a little better as I had no idea about it for the longest time. Its just vulgar humor coming from child characters that's been done for decades. Reviews. But man, the show’s creators sure do try to shock as much as they’re able within those confines. Some of my favorite actors in this. I can't stop laughing at the naked characters! The animation is fine but not very interesting. An adult animated medieval comedy with a deceiving art style seems right up my alley. They sound like things that teenagers would talk about. I tried really hard to like it. The voice acting too was fine. It gets tiring very quickly. To see this team use that sense of unpredictability rather than being tethered to having to parody existing things helps cut through that feeling of simmering sameness. For the most part, the jokes don't land well, often falling flat. She has them all strip down to their undies (one doesn’t have any, and so we see his toy privates on full display), oils them up and brings them back to her tent. Then after watching the third episode I thought, "This show is terrible." I stuck around till the end for the stunning stop motion which is consistently impressive (not much of a surprise given the talent on board this project) and the juvenile humor slowly grew on me.
The writing is atrocious, and as far as I'm concerned the writing is what makes these types of shows successful. They have no redeeming features. The exhausting scope of these episodes demands some inventive, practical solutions to bring them to life. Sony.
